Anarchist cities

Hi LM,

I found your essay about anarchist gardens really inspiring. It reminded me of a book I have about anarchist town planning. It’s about how people not planners make cities. Making adaptations and alterations to the streetscape. Street art, graffiti, businesses, parks, car free streets, sculptures, trees. The cities grow organically in the same unbounded way as your various gardens.

I find cities fascinating. I like how in my city different periods of architecture mingle and overlap. There are town planning interventions where new urban neighbourhoods emerge. I hear Las Vegas is the capital of kitsch, casino architecture and of course you live in the ghetto.

Cities can be an engine for social movements. Each city has its own energy.

Cities I would like to go to include Berlin and Tokyo.
